Samsung Electronics has sold more than 100 Led TVs in Taiwan since the launch in mid-June, according to Samsung Taiwan.
The sales were mainly 46-inch models, which accounted for almost 50% of all Samsung's LED TV sales in Taiwan, followed by 55-inch models with about 20%, Samsung Taiwan noted.
Samsung plans to launch RGB LED-backlit TVs in the 9000 series worldwide at the end of 2009, market sources added. Samsung's current LED TVs feature white LEDs using the edge-type backLighting technology, and its top-of-the-line 55-inch model is about US$1,000 cheaper than Sony's RGB LED-backlit model with the same screen size.
Samsung has sold 400,000 LED TVs globally for a market share of 90% since April, and expects to sell two million LED TVs to account for 10% of all Samsung LCD TV sales worldwide in 2009, Samsung Taiwan said.
